At Labor Dept., Enabling the Disabled
W. Roy Grizzard Jr., who is legally blind, has headed the Office of Disability Employment Policy since July 2002. The mission of the office is to help disabled people find jobs and to encourage employers to accommodate the needs of disabled people. Since 2001, the office has put out $60 million in grants to provide opportunities for the disabled and has a database for matching disabled candidates with employers. Grizzard?s own disability has made him especially committed to improving the lives of disabled people.
