At least five killed in protests over Guinea teachers' strike
At least five people were killed in Guinea yesterday in a protest that broke out during a teacher's strike. Teachers in Guinea have been striking since the beginning of February, when the government proposed either firing or decreasing the salaries of junior teachers. Some students have joined the teachers on strike. A deal to end the strike was reached Monday night. Guinea faced violence over labor disputes about a decade ago, when 135 protesters were killed following actions by security forces
