AT&T and union talks continue past deadline
The Communications Workers of America Union, which represents landline workers at AT&T, continued talks with the firm past a strike deadline yesterday in efforts to reach a deal. While previous contracts expired on midnight Saturday night, employees have continued to work under old terms as the union negotiates terms of job security and health care. Regions bargain separately, which could mean that some areas reach agreement while others strike. The CWA has filed charges with the NLRB in several districts over AT&Ts alleged refusal to provide important information throughout the bargaining process, but the company downplayed the charges as ?very common?. The CWA represents about 125,000 workers at AT&T.
