AT&T customers in Southeast may experience service delays due to ongoing strike
AT&T workers in the southeastern United States have been on strike for three weeks now. Workers are represented by the Communications Workers of America union, and AT&T and the union have been bargaining for a new contract for the past few months. Negotiations began in June, and workers are demanding higher wages and better insurance benefits. Negotiations between the parties have not significantly progressed since the process began, and a federal mediator has now been brought into negotiations. Workers claim that AT&T has unfair labor practices and that workers do not have an acceptable work-life balance. Workers began striking in mid-August, and the strike action has led to disruptions in service maintenance. AT&T has contingency plans for managing services during strike action, but customers have still reported various issues and delays.
