AT&T union avoids strike as contract talks go on
The Communications Workers of America, which represents about 40,000 AT&T workers, says that workers will remain on the job this week as the union continues negotiations. The contract expired over the weekend, and workers had prepared for a strike. Both sides said that they want to reach an agreement soon. The CWA says that it just wants a fair contract for the workers. AT&T says that they have made plans in the event of a strike. Workers will continue to be covered by the expired contract until a new agreement is reached.
