Auditor To Take Hot Seat
Hillsborough County internal performance auditor Jim Barnes will answer questions from officials regarding a memo he issued blasting the county's human resources department for withholding information and not acting in "good faith" regarding his salary during his hiring process. Most notably, the memo demanded that Barnes receive an $18,000 raise after only two months on the job. County commissioners expressed shock and outrage over the memo, which comes after weeks of Barnes' projections of cutbacks and fiscal belt-tightening.
