Autos to go on strike from tonight
Autorickshaw unions in India are threatening to strike indefinitely starting Thursday night. The government wants the drivers to install GPSs, which the unions say cost too much for them to pay for. The government says that unless the drivers install a GPS, they will not receive permits for operating. The unions say that the effect of the lack of drivers will be worse for the government. The are also asking that the government set up a welfare board for rickshaw drivers, saying that they receive no benefits and that the families of drivers need to be protected.
