BA cabin crew reject latest pay offer
Around half of the Unite members who were eligible to vote on a contract offer from British Airways did so. The cabin crew members rejected the newest offer 3,419 to 1,686 votes. The deal would have given them a 2.9% raise this year and a 3% raise next year, as well as promises not to victimize participants in the strikes and to reinstate some travel benefits. The dispute between British Airways and the cabin crew began last year, and there have 22 days of work stoppage since the dispute began, costing the airline an estimated 150 million euros. A statement for the airline said that they were hopeful, since the vote showed that '73% did not reject the offer'. The statement also urged Unite to end the dispute. A spokesman for Unite said that they would meet with representatives to decide their next move in the dispute. Unite did not recommend a course of action for cabin crew members when it came to the vote.
