BA, other airlines hit by Finnair strike-union
Finnair has been forced to cancel around two-thirds of its flights since a strike by cabin crew began a week ago. The cabin crew is striking over wages and working conditions. On Monday the union turned down a new offer and no further negotiations have been announced. On Tuesday, a Finnish airline mechanics unit said that it would not service the planes of British Airways and other carriers at Helsinki airport in support of the cabin crew. Other Finnish unions have said that they will not fuel Finnair planes and would disrupt cargo. Finnair says that it estimates it is losing 2.5 million euros every day of the stoppage.
