BAA, Union Avert U.K. Airports Strike
Talks between British airport operator BAA and the Unite union were successful on Monday. Unite said that the deal was something that they had hoped for and that they were glad to recommend it to their members. The deal ends the possibility of a walkout that would have shut down 6 airports and disrupted around 2,500 flights a day. The dispute was around pay and pension changes, as well as sick leave. The union will present the deal to members on Tuesday.
