Barbs Are Flying in Union Fight
The Association of Fight Attendants and Delta management are both accusing the other of trying to illegally influence workers to vote yes or no in their union election. The election for 50,000 flight attendants will continue for the next few weeks, and is the first of the elections that will decide whether or not Delta flight attendants and ground workers will be represented by the AFA and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace workers, respectively. Delta has tried to convince employees that the unions will only cause discourse and will destroy the company's culture. The CEO said that the unions were engaging in "un-Christian behavior" when urging employees to vote no. The unions say that they are running a clean campaign and are not happy that the company is trying to ruin their reputation. The election is the largest of private sector workers since Ford in the 1940's.
