Barrow gets a $20,000 boost from city unions
A report filed over the weekend showed that Detroit Mayoral candidate Tom Barrow received significant campaign funds from unions like the AFSCME, Michigan Council 25, and the Amalgamated Transit Union. The funds, which amount to over $20,000 in total mark a significant contribution to the Barrow campaign, which, despite new union support, still lags far behind incumbent Dave Bing?s available funds. Bing, who was favored by labor during his election, has lost a lot of that support in recent conflicts, though he still received funds from the Detroit Police Officers Association and the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters. The general elections takes place Nov. 3.
