Batali, Partners Will Pay Del Posto Workers $1.15 Million
New York restaurant Del Posto, owned by chef Mario Batali, has agreed to pay $1.15 million to 31 workers at the restaurant. The agreement will end a labor dispute stretching back to 2010. Workers say that there was racial discrimination at the restaurant, and that they did pay out tips appropriately, as well as violations of minimum wage and overtime violations. The restaurant's statement denies all of the workers' claims against them. In addition to the payment, the restaurant will institute sensitivity training and more paid sick and vacation days. Batali settled another lawsuit regarding tips earlier this year.
