Belgian police announce strike over use of tasers
Police in Belgium announced that they plan to strike over the Interior Ministry's taser trial period. The trial period is controversial because it involves distributing tasers to a portion of the police force without giving them proper training. The taser trial will assist the Interior Ministry in its decision over whether tasers should be a standard weapon for all Belgian police officers. VSOA, the Belgian police union, claims the interior ministry failed to conduct "mandatory risk analysis" before announcing the trial period. A strike date has not been announced.
