Belgian Strike Paralyzes Traffic, Idles Industry
The demonstrations by trade unions in Brussels culminated in a general strike that affected air and rail transportation throughout the country on Monday. The workers are protesting the government?s decision to cut net income, restrict social services and lengthen working hours. 600 flights were cancelled as a result of the strike and protestors started fires at the entrance to factories.
