Bell, Toledo police union agree on tentative concessions
The Mayor of Toledo and the Toledo Police Patrolman's Asociation confirmed that they had reached a deal that will be brought to the union members and the City Council for ratification. Toledo has a $48 million deficit, and the mayor was asking that employees pay 20% of health care costs, and that the city stop paying into the employee pension program. The Toledo Police Patrolman's Association signed a three-year agreement in 2009 that included temporary concessions, but city officials say that those do not last and that the city cannot afford the contracts without them. The union vote is scheduled for today.
