Bellevue: Another bargaining day without resolution
Teachers in Seattle-area Bellevue School District remained on strike Thursday after another fruitless day of negotiations with district officials. While the two sides have come closer to an agreement over the use of a common curriculum, no ground has been gained in efforts to resolve differences over teacher pay. Teachers and administrators are no closer to reaching an agreement over pay and cost-of-living increases, with district officials claiming they would have to lay off 63 teachers and make budget cuts elsewhere just to meet teachers' demands. Bellevue teachers have been on strike since Tuesday.
