Bellingham teachers union starts work-to-rule campaign
Teachers in Bellingham, Massachusetts have initiated a ?work-to-rule? campaign to put pressure on the school district to stop, what they see as, reneging the terms of a contract agreed upon over 15 months ago. School officials say that a conversation was held between lawyers on each side exchanges emails containing proposed alterations to the contract before any ratification votes had been held, and the school district has email confirmation that the union had promised to present the changes to their constituents. When the president of the local union found out about the changes to the school nurses pay scale after the mediation session an unfair labor practice suit was filed, and soon after the school district filed its own unfair labor practice suit. The union has said that it is unwilling to bring the contract for a ratification vote without the new pay scale for the nurses, while the district says that the contract created in late November is final.
