Benefits pay off for families, firms
A growing number of U.S. companies are providing adoption benefits to their workers. A study by Hewitt Associates found that 36 percent of major U.S. businesses offered adoption benefits beyond leave in 2003 and 2004. These benefits include money to be used on adoption expenses, time off, and flexible scheduling when employees return to work. Offering these benefits can help companies retain valuable employees and increase commitment.
