Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has just proposed a senate bill which could protect the employee status of graduate student workers. The NLRB has just proposed a rule that would strip graduate student workers of their employee status, and Sanders' bill is an attempt to thwart that effort. The Respect Graduate Workers Act is being called an "appropriate response" to the NLRB rule because it will solidify the rights of graduate students.
