Bias Against Muslims Up 70%
According to a report to be released today by a major Islamic advocacy group, bias against Muslims is up 70%. The majority of incidents had to do with employment and the refusal to accommodate religious practices. Increasing anti-Muslim sentiment has been attributed to the war in Iraq and the lingering fear of terrorist attacks. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has made a special effort to track cases directly linked to the 2001 terrorist attacks, but the filing of such cases dropped off sharply last year. However, Muslims are still experiencing discrimination based on their religion.
