Biden Administration looks to narrow the gender pay gap for federal workers
The Biden administration is marking Equal Pay Day by working to address the gender pay gap for federal workers and contractors. Today President Biden signed an executive order that encourages the government to ban federal contractors from acquiring information about a job applicant’s prior salary history. According to the White House, in 2020 women who worked full time all year earned $0.83 to every dollar her male colleague made doing the same work - noting that the gap is even bigger for women of color.
