Big Three Workers Give an Inch on Health Care
The United Auto Workers have agreed to a rollback of its health care coverage. The plan is widely recongized as one of the best offered to blue collar workers in the U.S., with workers paying no deductibles or monthly premiums. In an acknowledgement of the current health care crisis and the financial strain on employers, workers at Chrysler will begin to pay deductibles ranging from $100 to $1000. Chrysler will only gain modest savings, but it is a symbolic move that signals the union's acknowledgment of competitive pressures.
