Black Friday: Walmart employees stage protests to demand higher pay
OUR Walmart confirmed that protests were held at 1,500 Wal-Mart stores on Black Friday to protest pay, calling for a minimum annual salary of $25,000. Protests took place in most major U.S. cities: Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, D.C., etc. David Tovar, Wal-Mart?s V.P. of corporate communications said that the protests were expected and countered some union advocate?s claims that employees are paid too low by citing that most of Wal-Mart employees currently make more than $25,000 per year. Across the country hundreds turned out to protest and dozens of protestors were arrested for various reasons.
