Black workers saw employment gains and losses in June
U.S. employment data shows positive development for Black workers with upticks in labor participation. From May to June the labor force participate rate for Black workers rose to 61.6%. There was also an increase in the share of Black workers who were employed. In contrast, white workers saw decreases in labor force participation rates and workers who were employed. Despite these gains for Black workers, the unemployment rate increased and is still 3 percentage points higher than before the pandemic.
