Boeing engineers overwhelmingly back new labor contracts
Boeing engineers ratified a new labor agreement on Wednesday that would increase wages for engineers by 15% over the national average, with an increase of 22% for technical workers that will fall to 17% by contract's end in 2022. Over 70% of voters approved the new agreement which also improves vacation, layoff, and retirement benefits. The agreement with two bargaining units of the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA), which takes effect immediately and governs 14,100 professional engineers and 6,000 technical workers, was notable for being less combative in negotiations than in 2012.
