Boeing Weighs States? Bids for 777X Against Union Pact
After reaching an impasse in negotiations with its union in Everett, Washington over the production location of its 777X passenger jet, Boeing has entered back into talks with the union after having receiving received incentive offers from other potential locations. The District IAM President, Tom Wroblewski, said that his membership is still open to talking with the company about extending the contract, but made it very clear that ?tearing the contract apart? is not an option. Washington State has offered Boeing $8.7 billion already. Among the contenders for the massive project are Texas, North Carolina, California, Missouri, and several others. The 777X program is anticipated to generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars for whichever community Boeing chooses.
