Boeing won't get new incentives to add 787 line here
As Boeing looks to ramp up production of 787 Dreamliners, Everett, Washington and Charleston, South Carolina compete for the planned production line. Washington State has said that it will not provide new incentives to the Boeing management, which is potentially problematic for Everett's bid. Boeing has said that union-management relations are a key issue for the new production line, and they are unhappy with the existing Everett plant's relations with the Machinists Union. Several strikes have occurred in the last years, including one two-month long stoppage. Everett would like employees to agree not to strike in the upcoming contract renewal, but the union does not seem to keen on the idea. In Charleston, the union was ousted from the plant last year.
