Boeing Workers Reject Labor Deal in Washington State
Members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) have voted 67% against accepting a contract extension with Boeing that would have guaranteed work on the 777X in the Seattle-area plants. The local union president, Tom Wroblewski, supported rejecting the offer, stating that the membership has voted to preserve pensions and is ensuring retirement ?with more comfort and dignity.? The president and chief executive of Boeing?s commercial aircraft division stated that the company would now have to ?pursue all options for the 777X.? A likely location for the work is the company?s plants in South Carolina, however some international plants are also potential sites.
