Boeing's engineer union says strike is likely, prepares workers
After two days, federal mediators suspended talks between Boeing and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees, which represents the company's 23,000 engineers. The union is preparing for a strike, which they think seems likely. The earliest that a strike would occur would be January. Boeing says that they have made a fair offer, but the union says that it would cut retirement benefits and raise healthcare costs. Negotiations began in April, and talks with the mediator are scheduled to resume in January.
