Brazil?s workers take to streets in one-day strike
Eight of Brazil?s major labor unions collectively staged a nationwide general strike last Thursday, expressing disapproval over leadership in the government regarding issues such as wages and benefits. Unlike last month?s round of protests which were largely planned by way of social media, Thursday?s demonstrations were highly organized and orchestrated by union officials. However, the strike had varying degrees of success across the country?s many cities and states, halting public transportation in some locations and barely affecting others.
