British Airways and Unions Settle Costly Labor Dispute
British Airways has settled a dispute with its unions over provisions of a cost-cutting program to deal with problems in the industry. The airline has agreed to give its administrative staff a 3 percent pay raise and employees have agreed to a system that will keep track electronically of the hours they work. Earlier this month, hundreds of British Airways employees staged a wildcat strike over the dispute, which experts estimate will cost the airline about $48.5 million.
