British Airways Braces for Second Strike
Following a walkout that disrupted air travel for British Airways customers last weekend, Unite, which represents 13,500 cabin crew, announced another 4-day walkout beginning on Saturday. A spokesperson for British Airways said that they were able to keep 75% of their flights on time during the last walkout and would be able to do the same this weekend. They also said that that they did not expect a majority of the cabin crew to participate in the walkout. Unite disputed this claim, saying that they were expecting more members to participate in the second walkout, and that they expected British Airways to have more issues with flights this weekend. Unite has also stated that they are open to resuming negotiations, but after the company took away perks allowing cabin crew to fly for free or at reduced prices earlier this week, tensions have continued to rise between the union and British Airways. The strike is expected to end on Tuesday.
