British Airways, union agree to emergency talks
In an attempt to stop a strike over the Christmas holidays, British Airways and union leaders are meeting. The strike would cost the airline up to $49 million a day. The strike is over issues of wages, job cuts and working conditions. British Airways has not stopped trying to get a court injunction to stop the walkout. Unite, who represents baggage handlers and check in staff said that they planned walk outs for Dec. 22, Dec. 26 and Jan 3. A spokesman for Unite said that the timing was in no way planned to coincide with the British Airways strike.
