Bus drivers in San Diego end five-week strike after successfully voting on new contract
San Diego County experienced disruptions to bus services for over five weeks, due to bus drivers striking for improved work environments. Many bus drivers take their breaks in break areas that are dirty and unsafe, and they want safety and sanitation to improve in these areas. The Teamsters Local 683 union represents the bus drivers, and negotiations with the Transdev Bus company were not progressing over the past month, resulting in major delays in bus services. In recent weeks the Metropolitan Transit System helped the union and Transdev reach an agreement. The union successfully voted to end the strike, and a majority of bus routes will return to normal operations.
