Business groups back privatizing Social Security
The Coalition for the Modernization and Protection of America's Social Security, an umbrella association of companies and business associations, plans a nationwide campaign of direct mail and television advertising to promote the administration?s plan to privatize Social Security. The companies are concerned that without privatization, the government will raise the 12.4 percent payroll tax that employers split with their employees. The AARP, along with labor and civil rights groups, oppose personal accounts.
