California judge rules that Proposition 22 is unconstitutional
On Friday, a California court ruled that Proposition 22, which was passed by California voters in November, is unconstitutional and unenforceable. This proposition would have allowed app-based food delivery and ridesharing companies to remain operating within their current business models and keep their employees as independent contractors. Companies like Lyft, Uber, and DoorDash spent more than $200 million to support Prop 22 and a coalition representing these companies says they plan to appeal.
