California rules that NDAs cannot be used to silence discrimination
California’s governor has passed the Silenced No More Act into law in California. This new law will build upon an existing law that banned the use of confidentiality agreements in cases of sexual harassment and will now include other kinds of discrimination, expand protections against secret workplace settlements, and prohibit confidentiality agreements for workers leaving a company. Although spearheaded and sponsored by tech workers, the law will apply to all California employers.
