Cambodian garment workers strike at big brand supplier
Workers at a Cambodian factory that produces clothing for companies like Gap, J.C. Penny and Old Navy went on strike Monday over the firing of union representatives. The president of the union that represents the workers, the Workers Friendship Union Federation, said that they would continue the strike until the workers were reinstated. The union says about 1,000 workers are on strike, while the company says that only 300 were picketing the factory. The garment industry in Cambodia contributes $3 billion a year.
