Canadian Pacific Workers Strike, Halting Freight Services
Around 4,800 Canadian railway workers went on strike Tuesday after contract negotiations failed. The strike stops freight rail services throughout Canada, although commuter trains are still running. The two parties have been negotiating since December, with the sticking point being the company's contribution to pension plans. Talks between the two resumed on Wednesday morning with federal mediators. The government says that they may issue a back-to-work order by Monday if the two sides cannot agree.
