Capitol cafeteria workers are facing layoffs
Cafeteria workers in the Capitol are fighting to save their jobs amid an announcement that many of them would be laid off “as the capital starts reopening and tours return.” 81 workers are set to be laid off on April 14th. On Wednesday the staff are going to picket the Capitol and they're calling on senators to come to their aid. Senator Sherrod brown of Ohio called for emergency funding to keep these employees working. He said, “After facing down a violent insurrection on Capitol grounds and continuing to serve through more than two years of a pandemic, layoffs should not be on the table.” 17 other senators have signed on to this.
