Caterpillar to Close Canadian Plant in Lockout Dispute
Caterpillar has announced that it will close a Canadian plant where workers have been locked out since the beginning of the year. The company locked out the 450 workers after they refused to accept pay cuts and other concessions. Caterpillar says that the wages and benefits at the plant are unsustainable. The company is expected to relocate some of the work from the factory to the United States, where labor costs are lower.
