Cathay in $7.6m payout to pilots
Former Cathay Pacific pilots were awarded damages by a judge for unfair dismissal, wrongful termination and defamation damages. The pilots were fired eight years ago after they started a work-to-rule program. The company contended that the pilots were fired because of an excess number of sick days and negative attitudes, but the judge ruled that it was because of the union activities of the pilots. Cathay has yet to announce whether or not it will appeal the ruling.
