Cessna 7-Year Contract Ratified After Workers Reject Strike
Though workers rejected both a contract and strike offer at Cessna, only 49% of the overall workforce voted, meaning that the contract will go into effect. The contract reduces health are costs for the company by switching union members into the non-union health care plan, which will cost thousands more for employees. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers had urged the 2,400 employees to vote for a walkout against the contract. A Cessna spokesman said that contract will reduce their costs, and that times are tough. The 7 year contract will go into effect on September 20.
