Chicago Teachers Union gives thumbs up to 4-year contract
Chicago’s Teachers Union ratified its four-year contract last night after 72% of union members voted in favor of the deal. The Chicago Public Schools' board will vote on the contract on December 7th in combination with a vote to approve the revised budget that the contract warranted. The new contract contains a cap on independent charter schools, but union members will begin contributing more towards health insurance costs in 2019 and new hires will not receive the 7% pension contributions that current members were able to keep.
