Chicago Teachers Union Says Outsourcing Nurses Bad for Students
Representatives from the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) are pushing for a policy change that would no longer have schools outsource for nurses. Last June, the Chicago Board of Education ratified a $30 million dollar contract to have RCM Technologies Inc. train, recruit and schedule nurses for its schools. The CTU claims that these outsourced nurses are not able to meet the needs of students with disabilities and put the nearly 400,000 students in the system at risk.
