China Contractor Again Faces Labor Issues on iPhones
Chinese Apple manufacturer Foxconn is again facing criticism for labor conditions at its factories. Two worker rights organizations say that the company is using students who have been forced into working at the plants by their teachers. According to reports, the students are being used to help production as the company faces a worker shortage and a deadline for the new iPhone. The students say that their teachers tell them that they have to work at the factories to learn, and that they will not graduate if they do not. Foxconn says that any use of students in their factories is monitored and appropriate. Local officials responded to the allegations by telling educational institutions to follow policies and correct violations.
