China to raise age required to retire
The current retirement age in China is 50 for women and 60 for men, but it will likely increase according to economists surveyed. The retirement ages are expected to increase by about 5 years by the year 2020. Delaying workers? retirement will help alleviate the labor shortages facing China in the near future. It would be the first increase in retirement age since 1950 and the broadest social reform since the 1990?s. Despite the benefits to the economy, raising the retirement age is hugely unpopular with the Chinese citizens.
