Chinese Daily News Agrees to Pay $7.8 Million to Settle Labor Dispute
Chinese Daily News has just agreed to settle a lawsuit that was filed against the company in 2004. The newspaper will have to pay $7.8 million to current and former employees of the company for violating multiple labor laws. The three employees that filed the class-action lawsuit claim that the company failed to give them breaks for meals and rest and that they were not given overtime pay. These workers claim that they were forced to work 12 hour shifts for as many as six days a week but were not allowed to report the actual number of hours they worked.
