Chinese Workers Protest at Factory Making Toys for McDonald's
China Labor Watch, a New York-based labor rights group, reported that a riot involving more than 1,000 employees erupted outside a factory in Southern China over the weekend, and lasted until police arrived on the scene to restore order. Representatives of the factory, which reportedly produces toys for McDonald's, claimed that the riots were prompted by a disgruntled ex-employee; China Labor Watch claims the dispute stems from low wages, poor living conditions, and the factory's violation of Chinese labor laws.
